UX: UX Lead at FinTech product company making investing delightful - temp to perm or fulltime

Location: New York, NY
We're seeking a Lead UX Designer (temp to perm or fulltime) for our FinTech client, to help design new product offerings and features in a highly Agile, iterative fashion, for both the "regular guy/gal" user (with a particular bent on the millennial set), and for financial planners. It's very much the best of both worlds - an agency-influenced approach with a startup culture, and the hefty backing of the large financial institution that acquired them and is eagerly incorporating their innovative influence and products.

Their VP of Design is someone we've worked with for years, and she's incredible - one of the most direct, transparent, savvy people you'll ever work alongside, and she instills loyalty in those she's worked with and have followed her to her current role. Indeed, the company has fantastic female leadership at every level - including the founder, the C-suite, the design department, and beyond.

Overall, the company's goals are worthy - you'd be helping to empower individuals to budget, save, and invest in a well-informed and enjoyable way, as well as providing tools and systems for financial planners. Technically no longer a start-up, as they were acquired last year by a well-known financial services firm, so you get to enjoy both the high-energy and creative capital of a start-up culture, with the backing of a well-established F100 company. You'd working on a team of approx 6-8 UX designers, collaborating closely with visual / UI designers and devs.
  • 4+ years of UX experience designing large-scale digital experiences and applications.
  • This is a hands on role—the Lead is expected to create design work as well as inspire and guide junior designers.
  • A proven track record of product design, including responsive, mobile web, and native app design, and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to think through complex features and flows, balance user needs and business needs, and make the complex feel simple to users.
  • UX background including all user-centered design activities from research, concepting, flows, sitemaps, wireframes, prototypes, annotations, and more.
  • Extensive knowledge of best in class interaction design patterns across a variety of platforms.
  • Adept with standard design and prototyping tools, such as Photoshop, Sketch, Illustrator, InVision and anything else needed to get the job done.
  • Ability to provide clear creative direction as well as timely and prescriptive feedback on work.
  • A passion for being on top of new platforms and technologies.
